Wine Review: This Italian red is made from 100% Montepulciano grapes, which I don't get to try very often. In the glass it is a brilliant dark red color and has a juicy spiced blueberry and black cherry compote bouquet along with some wet gravel and dark raspberry notes. There is plenty of fruit on the palate, with a medium-plus body, medium-plus acidity, a round mouthfeel and is smooth and balanced. There are flavors of spiced plum, blackberry jam, and chocolate, as well as some earthy notes and a hint of vanilla oak. There are persistent fine-grained tannins in the warm moderate length finish. I would suggest pairing it with pappardelle with a ragu sauce. – Mark
Winemaker Notes: A brilliant ruby red colored wine. It displays rich scents of ripe fruit such as plums, cherries and jams. It has full body and structure produced solely from Montepulciano grapes. It is matured in traditional oak casks for at least one year before it is sent to the market. It is dry, soft and warm with elegant and pleasant tannins. If laid down properly, the wine can be aged for three to four. It goes perfectly with roasted meats, aged cheeses and game.
