Wine Review: This midnight purple colored “Reserve” level Cabernet Sauvignon from Fritz is a bit on the hedonistic side. It opens with a very fragrant black currant bouquet with hints of blackberry, cherry and cedar. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, lush and round. The flavor profile is a tasty stewed black plum and black cherry blend with notes of blackberry jam, refined minerality, creamy vanilla and oak. I also detected hints of anise, black pepper and spice. The finish is dry and its sticky tannins build-up quite a bit and linger for a long time. This will certainly benefit from some decanting or additional cellaring. I would pair it with braised short ribs. Enjoy – Ken
