Wine Review: This dark garnet colored Zinfandel from Frank Family opens with a brambly berry bouquet with notes of craisins and oolong tea. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with plus acidity. The mouthfeel is vibrant, fresh, and very fruit forward. The flavor profile is an intense craisin and pomegranate blend with notes of red Twizzler and black tea. I also detected hints of stewed red plum and stony minerality. The finish is dry, and its very dusty tannins and flavors linger and last for quite some time. I would pair this Zin with Morimoto's hoisin sticky spareribs. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: A fresh and approachable expression of Zinfandel, showing a complex, intricate layering of aromas and flavors. This wine conveys clove spices, dark plum, and just-picked violets on the nose followed by crushed black pepper, thyme, and creamy mocha on the palate. A velvety texture of fine-grained tannins and an underlying acidity frame and lift the wine into a long finish.
