Wine Review: This Chardonnay from Frank Family is a great example of why I fell in love with Napa and Sonoma County Chardonnay's in the early 90's when barrel fermented Chardonnays was the norm. This offering is straw-colored and opens with an appealing ripe cantaloupe, peach, pear, tangerine, butter and oak bouquet. On the palate, it is medium to full bodied, smooth and creamy. The flavor profile is a complex blend of cantaloupe, pear, butter, oak and caramel. This is all well-integrated together with some lively acidity. The finish displays some slight citrus notes and fades away nicely. I would pair this impressive Chardonnay with a linguine and shrimp dish smothered in light cream. – Joe
Winemaker Notes: This wine appears light straw in the glass with aromas of toasted brioche, baking spices, and candied lemon rind. On the palate, the Carneros Chardonnay is full-bodied and creamy yet balanced by its lively acidity; with nuanced flavors of yellow apple, lemon curd, baked pear, melon, and subtle hints of oak toast.
