Wine Review: This ruby colored Zinfandel opens with a fragrant and attractive black cherry and boysenberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is cherry-cola with notes of plum and 80% dark chocolate. I also detected hints of oak as well towards the end. The finish is dry and its flavors fade away nicely. There is a bit of residual heat that lingers. That said, this wine is for fans of big Zins. I would pair this Zin with slow cooked braised short ribs. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Frank Family Vineyards 2012 Napa Valley Zinfandel is bright scarlet in color and possesses aromas of rhubarb, licorice, graphite and white pepper. On the palate, flavors of sweet plum, cherries and vanilla meld with hints of tarragon. The wine is balanced with silky tannins, earthiness and a kick of spice.
