Wine Review: This opaque and very dark ruby colored blend from Francois Lurton has aged very nicely. It opens with a pleasant black raspberry and boysenberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, very nicely balanced, rich and smooth. The flavor profile is a very tasty stewed black plum and oak blend with notes of black licorice, boysenberry and well-integrated minerality. There is a hint of black fig and coffee mixed in as well. The finish is dry and its dusty tannins linger and stick around for quite some time. This wine still has plenty of life to it. I would pair it with tender grilled steak tips. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: A concentrated nose of red fruit, fresh figs, regional herbs and black pepper segues to a silky, well-rounded mouthfeel that has an underlying smokiness character. A solid structure and liquorice flavored tannins linger on the structured finish.
