Wine Review: This opaque and onyx colored Meritage opens with a fragrant blackberry and blackberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and very approachable. The flavor profile is a ripe yet mild blackberry jam with notes of black currant and gentle oak. The finish is very dry and its dusty oak tannins are sticky and linger for quite a while. This wine is food friendly and should be consumed in the next couple of years with a New York strip steak. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Supple and inviting with aromas of dark cherry and ripe Italian plums, the 2007 Magnificat is a rich and elegant interpretation of the traditional Bordeaux blend. Accentuated with notes of clove and tobacco, the Magnificat delivers Franciscan’s signature concentration in deep layers of integrated boysenberry, dark cherry, and cocoa flavors. The mouthfeel is full and round, with warm complexity and notes of anise and mocha on the lengthy finish.
