Wine Review: Patience pays, for those winemakers that sat on their 2006 releases. They are being rewarded as this "Big" vintage is starting to soften and wines like this one are showing real well right now. This opaque and almost pitch black blend opens with a mild black currant and black cherry bouquet with a hint of blackberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and rather smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty black currant with a touch of black pepper, licorice, and oak. The finish is quite dry and its classic 2006 vintage dusty tannins are still prominent and linger for a while. I would pair this gem with a ribeye steak over the next few years. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Deep garnet colored with inviting aromas of dark cherry, sage, and red plums. Complex layers of ripe berries, with undertones of vanilla and cloves. Full-bodied and textural, with ripe flavors of black plum and cherry, cocoa and cassis. A concentrated, rich palate with round tannins leads to a long finish interwoven with blackberry, anise and mocha.
