Wine Review: Any wine whose label opens with the following quote is worth exploring. “I prefer an interesting vice to an annoying virtue.” – Moliere. Well once inside you will be rewarded from this interesting vice. This very dark opaque purple colored wine made from an interesting blend of Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Tempranillo is very irresistible. It opens with a fragrant spicy ripe blackberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, nicely balanced, and concentrated, yet elegant. The flavor profile is a savory ripe blackberry jam with notes of plum and black licorice. There is a dash of black pepper mixed in as well. The finish is dry and its moderate food friendly tannins show finesse and very good length. I would pair this wine with aged gruyere and mini beef Wellington. As I mentioned above, this wine is irresistible and the key to a superior wine is the desire for another glass. This wine has that quality and an open bottle won’t last very long. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This wine is a mouthfull. Rich currant, blackberry fruit, subtle cherry, with dried herbs on the nose. In the mouth, succulent red fruits, fig, black currants with a hint of provincial herbs and earthy spice. A taste sensation that lasts long on the palate with fabulous structure integrated seamlessly with the resonating velvet fruit. The fruit impressions carry into nuances of herbs and vanilla underscored by a fresh, elegant acidity, ripe soft tannins and a subtle yet sexy oak finish. This wine has it all. Power and grace.
