Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored red blend from Four Vines opens with a boysenberry and red currant bouquet with a hint of black pepper, beef jerky and oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and savory. The flavor profile is a fruit forward red raspberry jam with notes of oak and strawberry licorice mixed in. There is a touch of milk chocolate in the aftertaste as well. The finish is dry and its finish remains fruity. This wine would pair well with herb encrusted lamb or chicken and shrimp paella. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Break some rules! We know a typical Rhone blend is Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre but we wanted to shake things up a bit, plus we are Zinfandel geeks! So, we pumped up the spice with a chunk of Zin and kept the Mourvedre for its dark funk and wrapped it all in a velvety veil of Syrah. With warm cherry notes, rich, vibrant backbone and lingering burnt sugar finish - this wine is like a gentle, loving, slap to the face…it’s all in good fun!
