Wine Review: This deep amber colored 20-year old Tawny Port opens with a raisin, coffee and moist pipe tobacco bouquet opens with hints of plum, orange peel and almond paste. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with gentle acidity. The mouthfeel is smooth, balanced, and juicy. The flavor profile is a plump raisin, plum, cinnamon, and sweet molasses blend. We also detected notes of fig, rum and coffee-soaked ladyfingers. The finish is sweet and its flavors drift away nicely. This is a very friendly Tawny Port. We would pair it with tiramisu. Winemaker Notes: Fonseca 20-Year-Old Tawny is deep amber in color with russet highlights. Its superb bouquet is a complex marriage of ripe, plummy, mature fruit, warm spicy overtones of cinnamon and butterscotch and subtle oak nuances. Twenty years of ageing has given this wine a wonderfully opulent nutty and spicy flavor. It is an excellent complement for a crème brulée or a plate of wild strawberries.
