Wine Review: This pitch black colored Meritage from Foley Johnson is an extremely good wine for the money. It opens with a fragrant black cherry and black currant bouquet with a hint of coffee. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, nicely balanced, silky and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a delicious black currant and blackberry blend with notes of oak and coffee. I also detected a hint of strawberry licorice towards the end. The finish is dry and its moderate refined tannins show very nice length. This wine is ready to go and would be a perfect pairing for a filet mignon. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Its deep, garnet-purple color is enticing and draws you in. Smoky aromas with blackberry and dark cassis lead on the nose. The palate delights the senses with flavors of violet, coffee, clove and vanilla bean. Its luxurious mouth-feel and soft, well-integrated tannins make this a perfect pairing with roasted leg of lamb, or filet mignon.
