Wine Review: This slightly cloudy and dark ruby colored Syrah from Flanagan opens with an inviting boysenberry, red licorice, and cedar bouquet with hints of violet and black olive. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, young, and fresh. The flavor profile is lingonberry, smoked meat, and cinnamon blend with notes of red currant and cedar. We also detected some hints of green tea. The finish is dry, and its dusty tannins stick around for quite a while. The Tasting Panel would pair this Syrah with a charcuterie platter or with a rosemary lamb with a roasted garlic and truffle mashed potatoes. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The Syrah from our original vineyard site in Bennett Valley is always excellent and 2021 is no exception. Its nose displays violets, black cherry, cedar, and leather. On the palate there are notes of red and black fruits (pomegranate, black cherry, and ripe black plum) with a hint of vanilla. Bennett Valley is a great area for Rhone varietals and both our Viognier, and our Syrah come from top sites in this unique AVA.
