Wine Review: This straw-colored Chardonnay from Flanagan opens with a pineapple and ripe Bosc pear bouquet with a hint of pilsner beer and butterscotch. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with pleasant acidity and nice rounded edges. The flavor profile is a very tasty lemon and pineapple blend with notes of nicely integrated chalky minerality, pear and oak. I also detected some hints of butterscotch that enhance the wine. The finish is dry and its flavors and acidity linger nicely. This Chard would pair nicely with Lucia's butternut squash ravioli with a creamy butter, fresh sage and parmesan cheese sauce. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our 2018 Flanagan "Russian River Valley" Chardonnay is a blend of three of the greatest Chardonnay vineyards in California. It is primarily a blend of the Bacigalupi Vineyard and the younger vines from Ritchie Vineyard. There is also a small amount of Platt Vineyard fruit that provides a thrilling lift to the acidity. The nose shows notes of Rangpur lime, jasmine, and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, this wine is clean and balanced with bright acidity and a subtle barrel influence. It features flavors of Bosc pear and toasted almond. and some elegant minerality.
