Wine Review: This very pale straw-colored Chardonnay from Flanagan really impressed the Panel. It opens with an oak, pear and melted butter bouquet. We also detected some hints of papaya and grilled pineapple. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium acidity. We also found it to be balanced, rich and lush. The flavor profile is an oak influenced apple and Bosc pear blend with notes of pineapple and lemon. We also detected some hints of peach and coconut mixed in. The finish is dry and its flavors drift away nicely. The Panel felt this was a Chard that certainly could be enjoyed on its own. With food they would suggest pairing it with chicken cordon bleu. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Bacigalupi probably has the most classic Russian River profile of all our Chardonnays. The 2018 has a nose of citrus and peach blossoms. The palate opens with fresh white peach and Meyer lemon with brioche toast on the finish. This is terrific wine from one of Sonoma County’s top Chardonnay sites and will age gracefully for many years.
