Wine Review: This yellow colored Chardonnay from Flanagan is impressive and was well-received by our tasting group. It opens with an oak and pear bouquet with a hint butterscotch. On the palate, this wine is medium to full bodied and nicely balanced between its acidity and fruit. The flavor profile is a nice blend of pineapple, pear and gentle minerality with notes of nicely integrated oak. I also detected hints of lemon and butterscotch towards the end. The finish is dry and its flavors sail on for quite a while. This Chard is very food friendly and would pair nicely with Chicken St. Timothy. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The nose shows notes of honeysuckle, vanilla, and citrus blossom. The palate has an elegant melange of ripe red apple, stone fruit and citrus flavors supported by understated barrel notes and a hint of clover honey on the finish. The key to the wine is the bright acidity and elegant minerality that tie everything together. This is a great example of what top Russian River Chardonnay sites can produce when wine making is focused on balance.
