Wine Review: This opaque and very dark ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a musty forest floor, black currant and mild black cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, soft and a little juicy. The flavor profile is a ripe black currant and mineral blend with notes of kirsch and mild oak. I also detected hints of 80% cocoa dark chocolate, black fig and Oolong tea. The finish is dry and its tannins build-up and linger for quite a while. This Cab should also develop nicely in your cellar, as it is still young in the bottle. If you can't wait, it requires some near-term decanting in order to open-up. Then it would pair nicely with a grilled skirt steak. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2016 Flanagan Cabernet has a compelling nose with a graphite minerality intertwined with orange blossom and cedar notes. The palate has a ripe red currant and black currant, red plum, some savory herbal notes, and lots of structure. The tannins are fine grained and grippy in this young Cabernet. The acidity provides beautiful delineation and tension in the mouth.
