Wine Review: This dark red colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Flanagan impressed the Tasting Panel. It opens with a mild black currant and graphite bouquet. On the palate, this wine s medium bodied, balanced, juicy and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a jammy blackberry with notes of oak, Chambord liqueur, and coffee. We also detected hints of graphite, cinnamon and mint towards the end. The finish is dry and its tannins build up and then drift away. The Panel suggested pairing this Cab with steak au poivre or Capital Grille's Kona crusted sirloin steak with caramelized shallot butter. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our 2014 Flanagan is reminiscent of a great left bank wine. The nose displays a pretty mix of violet, black fruits, orange blossom, and bergamot. On the palate, the wine shows red and black current intermingled with mocha and earth notes. There is a ton of structure and at the same time, it is very elegant. The texture feels "just right" with fine grained, supple, ripe tannins.
