Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Aglianico opens with an attractive ripe black cherry and dark chocolate bouquet with a hint of smoky old oak and herbs. On the palate, this wine is full bodied and very savory with lots of acidity. The favor profile is a faint cedar plank influenced red plum with notes of strawberry licorice and hints of black currant. The bold tannins creep up and influence the flavors. The finish is very dry featuring those bold dusty tannins. This wine needs a little fat to go with it. So, I would serve it with a cowboy cut prime rib. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Intense and lucid ruby red. On the nose, it recalls wild black fruit, licorice and the underbrush. In the mouth, it is balanced with a finish that is reminiscent of fresh fruit, ending with a delicate balsamic note. It combines perfectly with roasted red and white meats and eggplant parmigiana.
