Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Sangiovese based blend from Ferrari-Carano opens with black-cherry cola and oak bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, slightly acidic and juicy. The flavor profile is a red plum, mineral and black cherry blend with notes of oak and dark chocolate. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate tannins linger nicely. This red blend is a very nice weekday wine. I would pair it with your favorite juicy burger. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Siena has delicious aromas of blackberry, raspberry jam, cocoa, toasty vanilla, licorice, and nutmeg spice that lead to flavors of Bing cherry, blueberry, sweet plums, pomegranate, mocha, sweet oak notes and a hint of butterscotch. Siena has supple tannins and a balanced mouthfeel with lively elegance and depth. Siena pairs perfectly with savory Italian food, like pasta with flavorful tomato sauces or pizza.
