Wine Review: This white gold colored Fume Blanc from Ferrari Carano opens with a very fragrant grapefruit and gooseberry bouquet with a hint of pineapple. On the palate, this wine is light bodied, crisp and lively and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a tasty grapefruit with notes of minerality. I also detected hints of pineapple and peach pit as well. The finish is dry and its flavors and lingering acidity last for quite some time after the wine is gone. This Fume would pair well with swordfish kabobs. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Ferrari-Carano’s 2013 Fume Blanc has delicious aromas of white peach, orange blossom, pear, quince, Meyer lemon and mango complemented by peach, grapefruit, pear and lemon flavors. This wine has bright acidity and crisp freshness from the cool, stainless steel tank fermentation, while the subtle oak character from barrel aging adds, body, complexity and depth. Our Fume Blanc pairs well with simple seafood and poultry dishes, and also holds up nicely with white meats such as veal and pork. The wine has lively flavors that go well with spicy and ethnic cuisines such as Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, Korean, Mexican and Southwestern dishes.
