Wine Review: This onyx colored Zinfandel is quite a fruit bomb. It opens with a fragrant black raspberry jam bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, fruit forward, and jammy. The flavor profile is a ripe black raspberry with notes of red currant jelly and black plum. I also detected a touch of oak and dash of black pepper towards the end. The finish is dry and its juicy fruit flavors linger nicely after the wine is gone. I would pair this wine with meat lasagna. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: Deep purple in color with rich layers of fruit complexity, Ferrari-Carano’s Zinfandel comes from our Estate Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley. Aromas of fresh, hand-picked blackberries, raspberry preserves and strawberry jam are complemented by nuances of baking spices, cedar, black tea, and clove that open slowly. A thick, rich mouthfeel bursting with wild berry preserves and ripe Bing cherry delight and contrast with delicate tannins and notes of milk chocolate, vanilla bean and espresso roast on the finish. Our Zinfandel is a food-friendly wine that pairs perfectly with meat dishes such as slow-roasted pork, grilled lamb chops, duck, beef sirloin burgers, chili, pizzas, and spicy sausage.
