Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Pinot Noir opens with a mild ripe dark cherry bouquet with a hint of cola. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic, crisp and very fruit forward. The flavor profile is a spicy ripe black cherry with notes of old oak with hints of black raspberry. The finish is dry and its moderate dusty tannins are nicely prolonged. I would pair this fruity Pinot with slow cooked barbecue beef brisket. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This superbly crafted, limited wine, our 2009 Sky High Ranch Pinot Noir, is from Mendocino Ridge which borders Anderson Valley in coastal Mendocino County. This wine boasts aromas of cherry, pomegranate, blackberry, fresh herb and toast, with full, rich wild berry flavors of blackberry pie, tart cherry, earthy undertones and a hint of toasty oak on the finish. Sky High Ranch Pinot Noir's velvety texture and dazzling complexity are underscored by bright acidity, creating a naturally-balanced wine perfectly representative of the terroir from which it comes. Our Sky High Ranch Pinot Noir pairs well with salmon, fowl and meat entrees such as rack of lamb or Beef Bourguignon.
