Wine Review: This opaque and very dark purple colored wine from Gigondas is a monster! It opens tamed with a mild boysenberry bouquet with a hint of blueberry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, juicy and lush upon entry. The longer in your mouth this wine grows into huge fruit bomb. The flavor profile is a rich black raspberry with integrated oak, ripe black plum and boysenberry. I also detected hints of coffee and dark chocolate. The finish is very dry and its tannins are substantial. This wine could definitely benefit from cellaring or serious decanting. It would serve this wine with a well-marbled ribeye and open it at least an hour in advance. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Color: deep and velvety ruby color Nose: ripe red fruits, violet, licorice, mineral. Mouth: Tannins are present but not aggressive. With its specific aromas of violet and licorice, its finesse and elegance, this wine is a "civilized" version of Gigondas.
