Wine Review: This opaque and very dark purple colored wine from Portugal was our favorite from a collection of high end wines we tried over Labor Day weekend. It opens with a very fragrant ripe blueberry bouquet with a hint of black raspberry. On the palate, this wine is medium to full bodied and it shows a little elevated acidity. Overall it displays a very savory mouthfeel. The flavor profile is a delicious black raspberry and blueberry blend with notes of mild oak and spice. The finish is quite dry and its moderate tannins linger for quite a while. This wine would pair perfectly with Matt’s Hawaiian barbecue baby back ribs. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Colour: Intense garnet colour, almost opaque. Aroma: Great finesse and complexity, suggestions of mature fruit, subtle notes of tobacco and toast. Palate: Dense and solid, balsamic notes. Robust tannins providing structure and backbone for extended bottle ageing. Dishes: Best with game dishes and the creamy texture of soft cheeses.
