Wine Review: This opaque and deep dark purple colored Merlot from Napa reminded no one on the Panel of a Merlot. Instead, it reminded us of a big boy Petite Sirah. That said, we all loved it. It opens with a mild ripe blackberry bouquet with hints of coffee. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, rich and extracted. The flavor profile is an ultra-ripe blackberry with notes of licorice, coffee and vanilla oak with a hint of boysenberry. The finish is dry and its flavors and big tannins are quite lengthy. The Panel suggested enjoying this terrific wine by the fireplace on a cool evening. With food we would suggest decanting it for a least an hour and then serve it with a well-marbled ribeye and some chocolate mousse. Enjoy - KWGTP
