Wine Review: This ruby colored Pinot Noir from Elk Cove opens with a fragrant graphite and black raspberry bouquet with hints of toasted oak, black plum, and clove. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, fresh, savory, and zesty. The flavor profile is stewed black plum and graphite blend with notes of smoky oak, black tea, and black currant. I also detected some hints of black cherry cola. the finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and moderate tannins linger nicely. This wine would pair well with a steak fajita. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is made with 100% estate grown fruit from all six of our vineyard sites: The Winery Estate, Mount Richmond, Five Mountain, Clay Court, Goodrich and Windhill. Some people call this making wine "spice rack" style, we usually just call it delicious. Our goal is the perfect version of what we believe a Willamette Valley Pinot should be: a wine with freshness of fruit, well-integrated alcohol, and great concentration of flavor. The 2022 displays cherry cordial, dried strawberries, and dark chocolate on the nose. This leads to fruit-forward flavors of cherry, cranberry and black currant that drift into a supple finish of spiced tea, orange peel and leather.
