Wine Review: This offering from El Nido is very hedonistic and unrestrained. It is not for everyone, however our mini-group liked it. It is very dark ruby colored. It opens with a forward dark chocolate and black cherry bouquet with hints of oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, juicy and rich. The flavor profile is a chalky minerality and kirsch blend with notes of dark chocolate. I also detected hints of blackberry and toasted coconut in the after taste. The finish is dry and its forward flavors and moderate tannins are nicely extended. There is 16% alcohol in this and it is a bit noticeable towards the very end. Enjoy this by the campfire or firepit with friends after dinner. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The wine exhibits a glass-coating opaque purple color with an expressive nose of pain grille, underbrush, brier, mineral, blueberry, and blackberry fruit leading to a plush, opulent wine with great density, savory flavors, and a lengthy finish. Pair with stewed meat, sausage, roast meat and medium cheeses.
