Wine Review: This opaque and dark ruby colored Merlot from Ehlers Estate is Excellent! It opens with a mild black plum and earthy loam bouquet with hints of menthol. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is well-balanced, super silky and nicely coats your mouth. The flavor profile is black currant and extracted blackberry blend with notes of graphite, black tea, and clove. We also detected hints of toasted oak, mocha, and black pepper. It’s pretty complex! The finish is dry, and its refined tannins stick around for a very long time. The Tasting Panel would enjoy this polished and rich Merlot on its own by the firepit. With food we would pair it with a porterhouse steak or with dark chocolate. Enjoy – KWGTP
