Wine Review: This pitch black colored Cote Rotie opens with a black raspberry, black cherry and dark chocolate bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and very fruit forward. The flavor profile is a ripe black raspberry with a streak of minerality throughout. I also detected some old oak and black plum in the background. The finish is dry and its well managed moderate tannins and fruit flavors are nicely prolonged. This Cote Rotie is showing very well right now. I would pair it with a New York strip steak at your favorite steakhouse in the near term. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Eye: Dark ruby red Nose: Spices, red berries and delicate oak aromas Palate: Round soft tannins. Aromas of raspberry, blackberry and vanilla Overall: Balance between scarcely perceptible acidity and tannins which add aging potential and softened by long aging in oak.
