Wine Review: This dark red colored Pinot Noir from Dutton Goldfield opens with a raspberry, graphite, and cedar bouquet with a faint hint of clove. On the palate, this wine is light plus bodied with integrated medium acidity. The balanced, smooth, and delicate. The flavors profile is a mild raspberry and juicy red plum blend with notes of graphite and green tea. We also detected hints of nutmeg and touch of oak. The finish is dry and drifts away nicely. We would recommend pairing this refined Pinot with a veal scallopini or a turkey dinner. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Due to the dry year in 2021, ripening came on the early side, giving us a particularly elegant van der Kamp Pinot. The wine leads with purple flowers and baking spices surrounding red cherry, dried cranberry, and raspberry fruit notes. A forest floor earthiness underlay it all, coming more to the forefront with additional time in the glass. In the mouth, a juicy and broad texture carries the fruit and savory characters that typify van der Kamp of pomegranate, bramble berries, black tea, and tarragon. Firm but round tannins carry the lingering finish, letting you know that your patience will be rewarded if you lay some bottles down in your cellar. Rich meats and dishes with little fat would make a great match, like braised lamb or grilled sausages.
