Wine Review: This slightly cloudy and dark red colored Pinot Noir from Dutton Goldfield is Excellent! It opens with a black cherry and black raspberry bouquet with hints of cola and clove. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, and gentle. The flavor profile is a very tasty stewed red plum and strawberry licorice blend with notes of teaberry gum and raspberry tea. I also detected hints of vanilla and oak in the background. The finish is dry, and its acidity and flavors linger and last for quite a long time. This Pinot is food friendly and would pair very well with grilled Norwegian salmon. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: Our 2019 Azaya Ranch displays aromas of raspberry coulis, dried cranberries, and creamy red cherry. Vanilla and a hint of forest floor provide a spicy counterpoint to the sweet fruit. These scents are followed through in the fresh and pure flavors of Bing cherry, strawberry licorice, and pomegranate, flowing along on a bouncy acidity ride. Fine-grained tannins carry a touch of baking spices and black tea on the finish. You can go with either rich dishes to counterpoint the wine, like rack of lamb or roasted duck.
