Wine Review: This medium ruby red colored Pinot Noir from Dutton-Goldfield was one of our top finishers in our recent mini-blind tasting. It opens with a gentle plum bouquet with hints of cherry, cedar, and cinnamon. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, nicely balanced, refined and silky. The flavor profile is a tasty plum with notes of slightly tart cherry pie and cola. We also detected hint of rhubarb and black tea. The finish is dry and its flavors and tannins fade away nicely. The Panel suggested pairing this elegant Pinot with an herb butter roasted squab or a plum glazed pork tenderloin. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: You can tell on first sniff that this is going to be an intense wine. The nose commands your attention, offering packed aromas of blueberry, blackberry, raspberry, and cherry, all coming through in waves one after the other. Spicy sandalwood and cinnamon, and a sweet-earthy beetroot note provide a pillow that the fruit bowl lounges on top of. The cascade of berries continues in the mouth, expanding on your palate. A lasting impression of cherry compote continues to the lengthy finish. Firm but round tannins promise this will be an excellent candidate for the cellar, broadening with more time in the bottle. Pair with butterflied lamb or game birds with herbs or mushrooms or Manchego cheese.
