Wine Review: This light yellow colored Chardonnay from Dutton Goldfield opens with a light butterscotch, oak and lemon bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and rich. The flavor profile is an oak influenced poached pear with notes of vanilla. I also detected hints of butterscotch and pineapple. The finish lingers nicely. This Chard would pair well with a sherry laced lobster bisque. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: We at Dutton-Goldfield choose our barrels to emphasize the fruit and vineyard characteristics of the wine, rather than showcasing the oak itself. We love the ginger/nutmeg overtones of Seguin Moreau, and the buttercream components of Fouquet barrels to compliment the citrus focus of this wine. This interplay of brightness and richness make it an excellent match with a broad range of foods, from butternut squash ravioli with fried sage, to veal piccata or scallops in a cream sauce.
