Wine Review: This pale straw colored Pinot Blanc opens with a fragrant floral bouquet with a hint of tangerine. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, slightly acidic and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a mineral infused lime with notes of tangerine. I also detected hints of faint apricot and grapefruit in the background as well. The finish is dry and its flavors linger and are nicely prolonged. I would pair with very nice Pinot Blanc with grilled swordfish skewers. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The cold valley of Purrington Creek always provides a Pinot Blanc of structure, bright acidity and minerality. In an extended, even season like 2013, the luscious peach and citrus fruit is also beautifully accentuated. In the nose, our Shop Block Pinot Blanc offers waves of intriguing springtime aromas, going from steely to floral to citrus. Pink grapefruit jumps out of the glass, underlain with dried mango and a sweet kiss of citrus blossoms. The first sip is incredibly refreshing, with white peach, nectarine, and lemon zest. The mouth is creamy and rich, yet so light on its feet, like gossamer silk, leaving you with a long, clean finish that lingers with a memory of key lime pie. This is the perfect front porch wine for easy sipping, and is also a fine match for fresh, light summer salads and seafood, or as a counterpoint to rich creamy dishes.
