Wine Review: This impressive Chardonnay from Dutton Goldfield is very nice. It is white gold colored and opens with an oak, ripe pear, and pineapple bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a Bosc pear and honey blend with nicely integrated oak. I also detected some butterscotch and white pepper. The finish is dry and its flavors are very nicely prolonged. This Chardonnay would pair perfectly with pasta carbonara. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: What can I say? We wouldn't have made it if we didn't think it was killer, a quintessential confluence of what we love about our Green Valley appellation, Wente Selection Chardonnay, wonderful cold vintages, great Dutton farming, and the playground of the winemaking craft. The 2011 Walker combines laser focused citrus fruit and mouthwatering fresh acidity with opulent mouth feel and a symphony of luscious overtones. This muscular maestro loves to stretch out in the glass, and will certainly reward aging. The lemon/lime/ tangerine nose evolves in the glass as the ginger, toffee and sweet cream overtones emerge. In the mouth, its concentrated core of sourball citrus fruit is softened by an almost oily viscosity, and sweetened with creamy spice notes. The finish is all fresh lemons and just taunts you to taste more. Try this wine now with anything decadent, rich and creamy, or just by itself when you're in a hedonistic mood.
