Wine Review: This dark red colored Pinot Noir from Devil’s Gulch opens with a heavenly strawberry and cherry-cola bouquet that sucks you in. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied and an absolute fruit bomb. The flavor profile is a blend of plum, black currant, red raspberry and oak. The finish is dry and its fruit flavors linger nicely. This Pinot would pair well with baked pork chops with green apples. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Just when you thought the crop couldn’t get smaller at Devil's, the wet spring of 2011 showed otherwise. The cool 2011 vintage at Devil’s gave us ramped up floral aromatics, cranberry fruit and the classic forest floor earthy undertones the vineyard is know n for, as well as bringing out the complexity inherent in the vineyard. The tight-knit, silky and substantial mouthfeel from the cool year and tiny berries, plus the perfect natural acidity and moderate alcohol, come together to give a particular fineness to this vintage. It's a complete wine in a packed, compact package. In the nose, red cherries, cranberries, violets and leather lead the way, followed by juicy wild berry and toffee in the mouth. The low alcohol really enables the cranberry sourball brightness to come through on the lengthy finish.
