Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot from Dutton Goldfield recently won a mini-flight of mid-tier Pinots. It opens with a fragrant black licorice and black cherry bouquet with hints of clove and leather. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, savory and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a very tasty blackberry with notes of gentle oak and black raspberry. We also picked up some hints of Earl Grey tea and menthol. The finish is dry and its gentle tannins fade away nicely. The panel suggested that you pair it with a sage and thyme seasoned pork tenderloin figs or a traditional turkey dinner. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: A wine with off-the-charts depth, gobs of our beloved Freestone spice, and a plushness that we always hope for. The concentrated ruby color foretells the rest. The nose is black cherry, boysenberry, forest floor, clove and Asian spice, and evolves and broadens in the glass. In the mouth, its fruit tones of blackberry cobbler, strawberry and cranberry smoothie are wrapped in savory spice. It is the combination of ruby-like precision, alluring intricacy and hedonistic richness that make this a special offering. Eat whatever you want with it, or nothing, it'll be delicious—right now and for 10 to 15 years hence.
