Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir opens with a very fragrant red raspberry and pomegranate bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a very juicy red currant with notes of boysenberry and a hint of raspberry and oak. The finish is dry and its fruit flavors are slightly prolonged. This Pinot would pair well mini Beef Wellingtons wrapped in a puff pastry. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This Pinot shows both concentration and silkiness, and still maintains the defining cranberry fruit and savory elements so characteristic of Freestone. The core of cranberry fruit is overlaid by brambly blackberry and Bing cherry, and the tannin structure is fine-grained and sweet. In the nose, it offers focused fruit, along with Asian spice and a touch of thyme and tarragon that is the hallmark of the vineyard. In the mouth, cherry and berry flavors are complemented by coriander, cinnamon and nutmeg, finishing with a burst of bright, zesty cherry. It is the nuance and detail of this wine that sets it apart—touches of coriander, Bing cherry, nutmeg and white pepper appear in turn as you enjoy the bottle. Try this wine with a fish or meat dish accented with exotic spices.
