Wine Review: This translucent ruby colored Pinot Noir opens with a ripe black raspberry bouquet with notes of oak and blackberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, savory, and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a very tasty complex blend of black cherry and cola with notes of black raspberry. I also detected hints of oak and milk chocolate. The finish is dry and its fruit flavors linger nicely. I would pair this very flavorful and special Pinot with cherry amaretto chicken. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Long, cool years like 2009 always bring out the personality of a vineyard. At Devil's, the extremely long ripening season between veraison and harvest highlighted the natural fruit brightness and fine tannins so inherent to Devil's. The wine is wonderfully lush and rich, but its most significant impression is about elegance and balance. Devil's will be our sleeper of the vintage: the focused core of blackberry fruit will unwind and richen as it gains weight with age. Aromatically, the definitive wild blackberry jumps from the glass, along with blueberry and wild cherry overtones and a bit of cinnamon. In the mouth, the wild berry fruits are joined by sweet caramel, supported by exceptionally rich and dusty tannins and bright acidity. Let this wine breath a bit and you will be rewarded with a combination of restrained power and silky indulgence.
