Wine Review: This deep purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Duckhorn opens with a black currant bouquet with hints of cranberry, cherry, and pencil shavings. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, refined and smooth. The flavor profile is black plum and black currant blend with notes of fine crushed stone minerality and oak. We also detected hints of black tea and black licorice mixed in. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins show very nice length. The Panel would pair this crowd pleasing and food friendly Cab with a filet mignon or with a mushroom tart. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Lush, energetic and intense, this gorgeous Cabernet begins with aromas of blackberry, huckleberry and chocolate, as well as hints of mint, cardamom, clove and graham cracker. On the palate it displays lovely brightness, with firm, resolved tannins framing flavors of boysenberry and black currant. As it evolves in the glass, subtle sweet and savory notes are revealed, carrying the wine to a long, focused finish.
