Wine Review: This slightly opaque and dark ruby colored Merlot opens with a mild black currant bouquet with a hint of vanilla and beet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and savory. The flavor profile is black currant with notes of black cherry, coffee, and black pepper. There is a hint of spice as well. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are slightly prolonged. The panel suggested pairing this wine with a Kobe burger with sautéed mushrooms and Swiss. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: A product of the exceptional 2007 growing season, this wine's hearty tannins and balanced acidity provide a textural framework for an enticing array of aromas and flavors that begin with notes of bright red cherry, plum, tobacco, vanilla and anise. On the palate, layers of fig, red currant, almond, cedar and sweet spice are revealed, along with a subtle doughiness that lends to an appealing mouthfeel. The final wine has been blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and a touch of Petit Verdot to add nuance and depth.
