Wine Review: This slightly opaque and dark ruby colored blend opens with a black currant and blackberry bouquet with hints of black cherry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is round, balanced, and easy to drink. The flavor profile is a cherry and mulberry blend with notes of stony minerality and oolong tea. I also detected some hints of blackberry, loam, and dried herbs in the mix. The finish is dry, and its dusty tannins subtly fade away. This red blend did not last long. It paired well with homemade meatloaf. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The Mariner is a powerful, yet elegant Meritage made in the tradition of some of the world’s greatest Bordeaux blends. At first swirl, the wine displays aromas of black currant, black cherry, and blackberry. Several more minutes reveal hints of cardamom, white pepper, cumin, and dried herbs. The palate has dark berry flavors along with earthy complexity and savory tones. It finishes with notes of mocha, marzipan, fine leather, and black tea. Good acidity will help this wine to age beautifully for years to come.
