Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Zinfandel from Dry Creek opens with a brambly black raspberry bouquet with a hint of raisin. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and very fruit forward. The flavor profile is and extracted blackberry and graphite blend with notes of stewed plum. I also detected hints of black tea, raisin and black pepper. The finish is dry and its flavors and tannins are nicely prolonged. I would pair this Zin with a messy rack of ribs. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This vintage presents enticing aromatics of dried cranberry and boysenberry with hints of cocoa powder, nutmeg, dried sage and cedar. On the palate, brambly flavors of blackberry and black cherry come forward with bright acidity complimented by deeper notes of dark chocolate, espresso and black pepper. The tannins are silky and smooth to lend a round, rich mouthfeel. From start to finish, this remarkable wine offers refreshing acidity paired with excellent structure and a round, rich mouthfeel.
