Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Zinfandel from Dry Creek Vineyard opens with a brambly raspberry and musty oak bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic, rustic and juicy. The flavor profile is a black plum and blackberry blend with notes of minerality and oak. We also detected hints of vanilla and clove mixed in. The finish is dry and its dusty tannins, acidity and flavors last for quite a while. The Panel suggested pairing this Zin with slow-cooked beef stew. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The complexity of our Old Vine Zinfandel lies in the spicy notes that are unique to these historic properties. This vintage presents alluring aromatics of blackberry cobbler, fresh cranberries with notes of white pepper, cola and dried herbs. On the palate, brambly layers of black cherry, black raspberry and dark chocolate come forward with nuances of nutmeg, cardamom and cinnamon. The wine is complex, with bright acidity complimented by a long, lingering finish. The tannins are structured, but soft, and lend a round, rich mouthfeel.
