Wine Review: This ruby colored Pinot Noir is slightly cloudy and opens with an attractive black raspberry and black cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium to full bodied, balanced, juicy and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a tart black raspberry with notes of ripe black cherry and ripe red plum. I also detected hints of oak, strawberry and clove. The finish is dry and its flavors last for quite some time. On day two, this Pinot becomes rounder and its flavors remain solid. As a result, this Pinot would pair very well with Chinese five spice spare ribs with hoisin honey glaze. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The Fog-Eater Pinot Noir is our Anderson Valley appellation blend. This vintage shows brightness and precision to the fruit with a slightly leaner expression than the more intense 2015 vintage. Bright red pomegranate and cranberries along with crushed wildflowers and trumpet mushrooms are evident here. Quartzite and savory spice follow along with mouthwatering acidity for a persistent finish. We recommend giving this wine some additional cellar time to unfold its layers. Pair with Mushroom Risotto or a Seared Duck Breast.
