Wine Review: This pale white gold Riesling from Dr. Loosen opens with a wet stone and gentle lime zest bouquet with hints of Easter lilies. On the palate, this wine is light bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, bright and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a lemon-lime and chalky minerality blend with notes of apricot and Anjou pear. I also detected a hint of pineapple in the mix. The finish is off-dry and refreshing. This Riesling was received by all that tried it. It is food friendly and very easy to drink. I would pair it with broiled scallops. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2020 growing season and harvest both got off to an early start here in the Mosel, but ended up giving us picture-perfect fruit for excellent dry wines, as well as brilliant off-dry and medium-sweet wines at the lower end of the Prädikat spectrum. When describing the 2020 vintage overall, our cellar master, Bernhard Schug, summed it up best by simply calling it "a Kabinett/Spätlese year." Erni concludes that "the 2020 vintage should be a showcase for the typical mineral structure of Mosel Riesling."
