Wine Review: This pale straw-colored Riesling from Dr. Loosen opens with a Vaseline and pineapple bouquet with hints of wet slate. On the palate, this wine is light bodied with elevated bright acidity. It also is nicely sweet and melds well with the acidity. The flavor profile is a lime and ginger blend with notes of saline and minerality. I also detected some hints of nectarine pit, basil and white pepper mixed in. The finish remains sweet and fades away nicely. I would pair this Riesling with Mike's Pastry's legendary plain macaroons. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: This classic Mosel Kabinett is harvested from cooler, high-elevation parcels owned by Dr. Loosen in the villages of Bernkastel, Graach and Wehlen. The wine is bright and pure with the vibrant white peach fruit and a floral, flinty minerality that is so typical from blue slate. A plush attack on the mid-palate leads to a deliciously firm, delicate finish. This wine makes an elegant aperitif and is an excellent match for seafood, spicy Asian cuisine and lighter dishes.
