Wine Review: This pale straw colored Auslese level Riesling from Dr. Loosen opens with a green tea, bee’s wax and gentle apricot bouquet. On the palate, this wine is light bodied with plus acidity. It is round, vibrant, refreshing and pleasantly sweet. The flavor profile is a lemon-lime and mild apricot blend with notes of crushed stone and sweet tea. The finish remains slightly sweet and its flavors linger nicely. This was well liked by all that tried it. I would pair this Riesling with Italian cookies. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Auslese [OWS-lay-zuh] means "selected from the harvest," and is a sweet wine made from very ripe clusters that are about 50 percent affected by botrytis. The resulting wine is dense, intensely flavored, and rich on the palate, but balanced by Riesling’s naturally brisk acidity. The red volcanic soil of the Ürziger Würzgarten vineyard produces wines with precocious tropical fruits, a rich texture and a pleasingly persistent finish.
