Wine Review: This Beerenauslese from Dr. Loosen is very good. It is pale straw colored and opens with a mild apricot bouquet with a hint of lychee. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and wonderfully coats your mouth. The flavor profile is a very tasty mild pear, dried apricot and honey blend with hints of ginger and minerality. The finish is sweet and lingers nicely. The Panel thought this dessert wine would be a perfect match with Stu’s peach cobbler or Jordan almonds. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Beerenauslese ("berry select") is a rich, honeyed dessert wine made from grapes that have been partially shriveled by the botrytis fungus, also known as "Noble Rot." These extremely concentrated, moldy grapes are painstakingly separated from the unaffected fruit and vinified to make one of Germany’s most prized vinous treasures. This Beerenauslese, exclusively from estate-owned vineyards, has a juicy mouthful of ripe fruits with a finish that is long and satisfying, but never heavy. It is perfect as an aperitif, with rich foods like foie gras, or with creamy desserts featuring fresh fruits.
